Following the appearance of cracks in the welds of the Voith control rods on tugboats, the damaged areas are repaired.
The repair consists of machining away the entire weld using a boring machine, after first identifying the extent of the cracks with a crack detector, followed by rewelding using a specific welding procedure.
To ensure the integrity of the weld, ultrasonic testing is carried out once the repair has been completed.
